Located in the middle of the western part of Iran, Kermanshah province covers an area of 42,741 sq. km. It is cold in the mountainous regions and mild in the plains. In ancient times, the trade route, linking China and the south-east of Asia with the middle-east, crossed through this province. The antiquity of residence in today's Kermanshah dates back to the first millennia B.C. Kermanshah province has famous and beautiful handicrafts, some of which are hand woven light shoes, curtains, engravings, Kelims (rugs made of goats' hair) with various patterns and carpets with charming designs. The local sweets of Kermanshah are famous for their pleasant taste.
